Rob’s Road Disc Frame

Posted by Appleman Bicycles in Bikes, Blog

The build process is complete! This frame is heading Down Under and will be built up with Enve 65 rims, Chris King disc hubs, and Dura Ace 9000 components! Rob is a strong fella’ and needed a beautifully handling frame for crit racing in Australia (land of the sprinters).

Rob was unhappy with the lack of stiffness in his Parlee Z3 Custom. My manufacturing process is flexible and I am able to provide truly custom bikes at a level that other companies are not willing to attain. Truly deep custom. I designed an entirely new tube set that is built for maximum stiffness.

In addition to a custom tube set, the bike uses an Enve Disc fork, mango Chris King headset, King PF 30 bottom bracket, King R45 Disc hubs and full carbon dropouts with integrated disc tab. The no nonsense internal cable routing returns a clean aesthetic. The frame has also been drilled/prepped for Di2 wiring should there be a need to upgrade.

Going above and beyond to make a better bike for the customer is what it’s all about! Erik and I have that in common.

The vision I had for this bike is captured exactly in the picture above. I’m not a stranger to custom builders and their products. The experience I’ve had collaborating with Matt on this project has been very enjoyable and his customer service has been exemplary.

…I’ve just picked the bike up! It is STUNNING. Thanks Matt.

As Matt mentioned in the bio, I have a Parlee Z3 which was double the cost and exhibits half the workmanship of the Appleman.

Just need to start saving for an MTB to match the road bike now…
